This Privacy Policy explains how VeldScan (“we”, “us”, “the App”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the VeldScan Android application and related services at veldscan.com and api.veldscan.com.
1. Who we are
VeldScan is a field-scanning tool that uses satellite-derived map layers and analysis on our servers. The App is published by WorldConnect Apps. For privacy questions, email janjimarius@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
- Device account token. A random identifier stored on your device and sent as
X-Device-Token so we can keep your credit balance and unlock status. It is not your Google account name or email.
- Location (optional). If you grant location permission and use “my location”, the App may use approximate/precise location on the device to center the map. Location is used for map display; we do not sell location data.
- Scan requests. Coordinates / areas you choose to analyze, and technical metadata needed to run the scan (timestamps, success/failure).
- Purchase data. When you buy credit packs via Google Play Billing, we receive purchase tokens / product IDs from Google to credit your account. Payment card details are handled by Google, not by us.
- Diagnostics. Basic technical logs (IP address, app/version errors) may be processed to keep the service secure and reliable.
- Notes you save locally. Field notes stored in the App on your device remain on your device unless you choose to share them (for example by exporting a report).
3. How we use information
- Provide map viewing, satellite layer analysis, and scan results.
- Maintain credit balances, redeem Play purchases, and enforce access rules.
- Improve reliability, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
- Respond to support requests you send us.
- Comply with law and Google Play policies.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, we process data to perform the contract (providing the App and purchased credits), based on your consent (e.g. optional location), and for legitimate interests such as security and service improvement.
5. Sharing with third parties
- Google Play. Purchases and related billing events are processed by Google.
- Mapbox. Map display may use Mapbox SDK/services, which can receive technical data needed to render maps according to Mapbox’s policies.
- Hosting providers. Our API is hosted on cloud infrastructure under our control.
- We do not sell your personal information. We do not show third-party ads in the App.
6. Data retention
Account/credit records tied to your device token are kept while needed to provide the service and for accounting/abuse prevention. Technical logs are kept for a limited period. You may ask us to delete server-side account data associated with your device token by emailing us from the contact address above (we may need enough information to identify the account).
7. Security
We use HTTPS for API traffic and industry-standard hosting practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Children
VeldScan is intended for adults and professional field use. It is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Your choices and rights
- Deny or revoke location permission in Android settings (map “my location” will not work).
- Uninstall the App to remove local data on the device.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of server-side data where applicable.
- Manage Google Play purchases and refunds through Google’s policies.
10. International transfers
Servers or processors may be located outside your country. Where required, we take appropriate measures for such transfers.
11. Changes
We may update this Policy. The “Effective date” above will change when we do. Continued use of the App after updates means you accept the revised Policy.
